2-Day Basic Carpentry Skills
Carpentry fundamentals taught in this course include tools of the trade, measuring and marking, using hand- and circular- saws, assembly with screws and nails, and understanding wood as a material. Students build a pair of sawhorses.

Hammerstone courses are open to women-identifying and non-binary folx as well as trans men. 2-Day Basic Carpentry Skills courses welcome folx of any skill level without a prerequisite.

What tools do most carpenters carry in their tool belts? How do you sharpen a carpenter’s pencil? When might you need to use a hand saw? Where should you use a screw rather than a nail? Why do we use a base 12 measuring system? These are just a few of the burning questions answered in our 2-Day Basic Carpentry Skills courses. We offer these courses at least once a month to introduce women+ to carpentry fundamentals. Starting from the very basics, we walk you through the safe use of hand and power tools while building a pair of sawhorses.
