2-Day Basic Carpentry Skills

  • Red Barn Cabinet Shop 200 Boiceville Rd. Brooktondale, NY (map)

Who is this class for:
This course is open to women-identifying and non-binary folx as well as trans men of any skill level without a prerequisite.

Description:
What tools do most carpenters carry in their tool belts? How do you sharpen a carpenter’s pencil? When might you need to use a hand saw? Where should you use a screw rather than a nail? Why do we use a base 12 measuring system? These are just a few of the burning questions answered in our 2-Day Basic Carpentry Skills courses. We offer these courses at least once a month to introduce women+ to carpentry fundamentals. Starting from the very basics, we walk you through the safe use of hand and power tools while building a pair of sawhorses. Who will find empowerment and community in one of our 2-Day Basic Skills classes? YOU!

HOW TO CHOOSE A PAYMENT >

  • I consider myself middle income/wealth. Paying this price may be a sacrifice, but I can find the resources to do so. This is the full cost of running a course including paying our teachers a fair wage, covering insurance, maintaining tools and facilities, managing administration, and supporting our family.

  • I consider myself low-income/low-wealth. I cannot access this course without financial help.

  • I consider myself low-middle income/wealth. Paying full price for this course presents somewhat of a financial hardship.

  • I consider myself upper-middle income/wealth. I would like to make a donation on top of the full price of the course in order to help subsidize access for those who cannot pay the full tuition.

  • I have the resources to make a substantial donation to ensure that these classes remain accessible to people of all income/wealth levels.
