Overview: The ubiquitous wall covering in most modern houses is drywall (sheetrock). Done right, it’s an inexpensive, smooth, flat surface that you can customize with paint. However, it’s tricky to get drywall right. If you’re planning any home repairs, or just want to patch over the hole from a picture hook, it’s time to learn the tricks and techniques of proper drywall finishing and repair. You’ll find your DIY toolkit vastly expanded if you know how to install and finish drywall.
In this class, we’ll learn how to hang and tape drywall, including interior and exterior corners while working on a sample wall. We will learn about drywall repairs, and how to properly attach things to drywalled walls. Each class will include some theory and some hands on practice, while the intervening weeks will give ample time for the previous coat to dry. We will also learn about proper preparation for paint, and techniques for a flawless finish.
