Hammerstone Stands with Immigrants and Refugees

Our mission at Hammerstone has always been to support the disenfranchised by empowering them in non traditional skills. While women constitute our general demographic, there are additional barriers to full participation in our classes and our culture at large for some subsegments of this group. Our free course for immigrants and refugees is Hammerstone’s first attempt to knock down some of these walls for a group that faces additional challenges of language, culture and financial disadvantage.

Hammerstone stands with the millions of citizens who are rising up and speaking out in support of immigrants and refugees.  To show our solidarity with people across the globe who are struggling to escape war, persecution and tyranny, we are actively supporting those immigrants and refugees who have already joined our community to build a better life.

Hammerstone is offering a free one day basic carpentry course on March 26, 2017, open to anyone who identifies as an immigrant or refugee.  The class will be held from 9-4:30 at a downtown Ithaca location to be announced soon.

If you are an immigrant or refugee, you may register for this free class.

Would you like to support our efforts?  Hammerstone welcomes donations of any size to support this free program.  We need to cover materials fees, lunches, space rental, and a teacher stipend.  $150 covers one student for one day of class.  Any additional donations will be added to our scholarship fund which supports our ongoing efforts to reach women for whom our classes pose a financial challenge.

Please help contribute to this cause!

If you would like to donate your time for set up, clean up, transportation, providing lunches, etc., please contact info@hammerstoneschool.com.
